A VITAL lifeboat rescue service has been given a boost after skiers donated £2,000.
The Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service - GAFIRS - hauled in the money from the Solent Skiers Association.
Members raised the cash with a sponsored jet ski around the Isle of Wight in the summer that raised £4,000, half of which was given to the RNLI. Joan Pink, GAFIRS fundraising secretary, said: "We are extremely grateful to them. It really does help us and such a large donation is really marvellous."
Shortly after the presentation a sponsored swim raised an estimated further £1,000 for the organisation.
