FUNDRAISING pupils from Swanmore College of Technology have handed over the fruits of their labours to charity workers raising money to build an orphanage in Ghana.
Year nine pupils handed over a cheque for £350 to Lynn Channon who will take the money directly to the African project.
A visit by Mrs Channon earlier in the year inspired the youngsters to help raise money for the project with fundraisers including raffles and biscuit sales.
The James Town orphanage is being built in Accra, Ghana, and local support is being co-ordinated by The Son Rise Church in Titchfield Common.
When Mrs Channon visits the project later this month she will be taking pens, paper and letters with her in the hope of establishing a network of pen-friends with the Hampshire pupils who have supported the orphanage.
