My Fair Lady, Gosport Amateur Operatic Society, Ferneham Hall, Fareham
THIS much-loved musical is beautifully performed with humour, colour, dance and music.
Production and choreography is from Audrey Pring, with musical direction from Albert Hall.
Alison Houseland adds sparkle and fire to the role of the flower girl, Eliza, who is transformed into a "consort fit for a king".
Bruce James is outstanding as Alfred P Doolittle, leading the chorus in a sensational "Get me to the church" sequence. Also outstanding is Kelvin Sylvester playing the romantic Freddy Eynsford-Hill.
Disaster struck at the dress rehearsal when the leading actor was injured. However, Gosport had a "little bit of luck" when Alan Blackhouse, from Fareham Musical Society, stepped in to play Professor Higgins. The audience warmly received Alan's commanding and energetic performance.
