OVERTON residents have repeated their requests for police to use speed cameras to tackle the continuing traffic problems in the village.
A London Road resident told parish councillors that cars and motorbikes travel from the traffic lights and up Overton Hill, overtaking at 'unbelievable speeds', and warned someone will be killed if no action taken.
Parish clerk Laura Harley said the council had written to the police requesting the use of cameras at the busy junction in response to previous complaints and was waiting for a response.
Acting parish council chairman, Cllr Brian Langer, added: "We asked for double white lines along the London Road stretch but Hampshire County Council wouldn't approve it as it doesn't meet the criteria.
"Hopefully the 30mph limit will be extended further up the hill when the building of all the houses takes place but with all traffic regulations, if people chose to ignore them there is nothing we can do.
"We only need a few prosecutions and it might concentrate people's minds a bit."
