AFTER losing his sight six years ago, community man Richard Lovell is relishing his new challenge as chairman of the Hampshire Association for the Care of the Blind.
Richard, who lives in Barton Stacey, carries out many voluntary roles in the Andover area with the help of guide dog Corby.
Corby is kept busy by Richard's other duties at Test Valley Community Services and Cricklade College on educational links with the community.
"The HACB have given me a lot of support and encouragement to be a capable chairman," says Richard.
One of his first tasks in his new chairman capacity will be recruiting new drivers willing to help transport blind and visually impaired people.
All drivers will be given ample time for their own commitments and will be paid 34 pence a mile.
Those interested should phone Christine Campbell on 023 80 641 244 for an informal chat.
Richard would like to invite new members wishing to join the Andover branch of the association to phone the number above for more details.
