THE saucy men of Moneyfields are steeling themselves for a possible "thong song" tomorrow.

After stringing together a formidable ten-match unbeaten run while sporting ladies' undies, the Copnor outfit fear the visit of mighty league leaders Winchester City could mark the day when they finally get their kit off.

Calvin Hore's men vowed they would go on sporting their lucky thongs until they lost a match but, seven league games and three cup ties later, they are still wearing them.

Secretary Paul Lipscombe marvelled: "It's unbelievable that something as slim as a thong could bring us all together like this. The publicity it's attracted has been great for the club and the league."

Despite scoring a handsome 6-1 victory over Whitchurch in midweek, Moneyfields will have their work cut out to keep their thongs on against Winchester.

Neil Hards's title favourites have won their last eight league and cup matches, hammering in 45 goals in the process, and are seven points clear at the top.

The latest new face at Moneyfields Avenue is busy, little striker/midfielder Nicky Wyatt - a recent target of AFC Totton.

The former Portsmouth, Havant, Bognor and Burgess Hill player scored on his debut against Whitchurch and Lipscombe smiled: "He was superb. He played just behind the front two and was all over the place. I can understand why Totton wanted him - but they can't have him!"

Winchester are likely to be without towering marksman Ian Mancey, who broke his thumb against Cowes last Saturday and was due to have a pin inserted yesterday.
