SOUTHAMPTON pop star Craig David has admitted a brush with the law - after being arrested for wearing a bobble cap.
The clean-cut singer, pictured, was held after police mistook him for a vandal because of his headgear.
Craig, 20 - honoured for his songwriting abilities at the Ivor Novello Awards last month - told She magazine: "Luckily it never got to court."
The star said: "When I was 13, I was in Southampton city centre with friends and I had to call my mum.
"While we were chatting, someone in a bobble hat started kicking and banging in the next phone box. Because I was wearing a bobble hat too, the police arrested me."
He added: "At least my mum believed it wasn't me as she heard it all going on over the phone."
