A PASSENGER who missed the Titanic's sailing from Southampton in 1912 has died at the age of 101 in America.
Reginald Hoskin's family planned to emigrate to America from their home in Looe, Cornwall, but they were prevented from boarding the ship when it was discovered their youngest daughter, Elfreda, was not included on the her parents' passport.
Days later, the liner sank in the Atlantic after colliding with an iceberg, resulting in the death of more than 1,500 passengers and crew - one-third of them from the Southampton area.
Undeterred, they later sailed to the US, setting up home in the Michigan mining town of Ironwood.
