COUNCILLORS in two parishes have confidently forecast that plans for the major container terminal at Dibden Bay will be rejected.
Graham Parkes who has represented Hythe and Dibden Parish Council at the public inquiry into the scheme, told his council: "When the public inquiry into the scheme started I thought we might win.
"Now I'm certain we will win and it will be rejected."
Minutes earlier and a short distanced away, Fawley parish councillor Allan Glass had told his parish: "We are very confident we are winning - we have got such a strong case against it."
Both councillors cited a proposed expansion at Felixstowe as a further nail in the coffin of the Dibden Bay proposals.
