OLD GREEN emphasised their title credentials in the Southampton and District BA League with a crucial 7-1 (77-64) triumph over Fleming Park.
The result sent Old Green back to the top of the table at the expense of their opponents, who are now a point behind.
Steve Dowdell (20-12 against Denny Graydon), Ken Dow (22-17 against Russell Kemp) and Brian Barber (19-15 against Alan Forrest) put Old Green in the driving seat with Steve Spreadbury (20-16 against Terry Whitear) rescuing the Fleming Park point.
Banister Park waved farewell to their unbeaten record when falling 7-1 (90-78) to Sports Centre. In winning form for Sports Centre were Peter Ward (31-16 against Steve Whitehead), Richard Shelley (23-22 against John Halliday) and Roy Alford (22-19 against Barry Bendall). Danny McEwan prevented the whitewash by beating Martyn Sekjer 21-14.
There was a first of a different kind for Woolston - their 6.5-1.5 success against Atherley get them off the mark for the season.
Aerostructures, who lead Championship 2 by 9.5 points, have notched five wins in a row - as have Hedge End who had the 27-9 romp by skip C Higgins over John Lind to thank for their 5-3 (80-79) result in Championship 3 against Hyde Abbey who took the other three rinks. Results:
