ACES 17 McTimoney 43
Both teams got off to a good start although McTs took the lead of the first quarter due to good interceptive work by the centre court players.
Once they had settled, McTs stepped up the pace and gave GS Sally Monk every opportunity to increase their score. ACES GD Emma Loveridge once again had a solid game, despite the barrage of balls being fed past her. By the 3rd quarter the game was over for ACES, as their GS Jen Best was prevented from getting the ball by the fast arms of GD Jean Ginger, who managed to keep the shooting circle out of bounds.
Abbotts Ann 11 KJM 38
The table toppers showed exactly why they are romping away with the title in their grasp: their on-court play was a delight to watch, and every single ball they play is accurate and positive.
GD Nickie Stickley seems to grow stronger with each game, and at the other end GA Elaine Aldridge's speed and agility in the circle always proves decisive.
Abbotts Ann, though, show great character as they are always unwilling to give in, especially GD Rhonda Sturgess and WD Lynda North.
F M Eclipse 28 Two Step third 35
Once again 2 Step exploded onto court and quickly found their rhythm to rack up a fine lead. GA Trudi Tobutt was in excellent form and scored some amazing long-range goals. Doubled up with GD Tina Piper having an outstanding game shutting down the shooting circle they looked dead certs for a convincing win. FM Eclipse, however, made some key changes during the breaks and came back in the second half on fire.
GK Carrieann Whayman started pulling off some fine interceptions for WD Vicky Randall to move the ball swiftly up the court for her shooters. This brought them right back into contention but the final quarter saw Two Step regain the edge.
Vernham Vixens 24 AD Aspinal 18
These two teams have come a long way this season, especially Vixens, who were only promoted this season. The battle of the night was in Vixens' shooting circle, where Vixens' GS Jenny East found the going very tough against ADA's GD Ruth Griffiths, who is their star in the pack. She works so hard for her team and starts off most moves up the court. But Jenny had her eye in and slotted home regularly to keep her team in front.
John Hanson U16 25 Broughton 15
This was another fine win for the JH school girls, who have been playing with the confidence of women twice their age. The game was very steady to start with, and both teams looked like they were in with a good chance of winning. Broughton's WA Ali Dudley threw herself at every ball, and was helped out by the versatile Mandy Ponting, who swapped positions several times.
The game took a turn for JH with Broughton fielding an injured player. The girls' confidence soared, and the long arms of GD Lisa Hayter played a major part in the winning of the match, as she timed her jumps and blocks to perfection.
SAS two 26 Niceday 20
Niceday play some good netball and have found a star in (GK) Tasha Westbury, whose game has won her many fans. Paired up with the hard-working displays always given by GA Carley Foster, they are really starting to make more established teams sit up and take notice. SAS 2, on the other hand, have had a couple of seasons together now and the continuity shows. This understanding proved the winning point on this occasion with C Wanda Rusher finding GS Carley Watson with every ball with which she promptly scored to secure a good victory.
Harrow Way 15 RPM two 24
Some of the young girls in the Harrow Way team are a bit overawed in this league.
They don't lack in skills, just confidence, but some are growing with each game, none more so than WD Michaela Hunt and C Vicky Burgess.
They do their level best to match their partners and keep the rest of the teams morale up with regular encouragement. RPM 2 now seem to have a settled side: C Carley Bridewell plays the court to her advantage and in GA Georgina Willis they have a strong accurate shooter. This gave them the edge on the night and gave them a deserved win.
