HAMPSHIRE'S Green Party MEP Caroline Lucas has released dramatic artist's impressions of the impact a Dibden Bay dock would have on Southampton's popular waterfront areas.
Dr Lucas has issued her before-andafter paintings just days after the Daily Echo published a series of present-day photographs and futuristic computergenerated images of the bay up and running as a container terminal.
She commissioned Hampshire artist Richard Lines to paint the current scene, looking across to the bay from Southampton's Mayflower Park.
He then used documents submitted to the public inquiry being held into the project and his paintings have been released as the inquiry goes through its second week of examining the "visual impact" topic.
Dr Lucas said: "If Dibden Bay port is built, the view of the New Forest will be replaced by a major industrial complex.
It will impact not only on Mayflower Park, but on other sites along Southampton Water too."
She is due to give evidence against the scheme in October.
