A SPECIAL exhibition of Gazette Newspapers' photographs has moved to a new venue in the heart of Basingstoke town centre.
From now until Christmas Eve, the exhibition - which is being staged as part of the celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of Gazette Newspapers - will be on display on the upper floor of The Willis Museum.
The exhibition, which showcases some of the excellent work produced by our photographic team, will also help some good causes as the profits from the sale of reprints of photographs featured in it will be divided between the Mayor's Charity Appeal for 2003-04, which is raising money for the Basingstoke and Alton Rehab heart charity and The Early Bird appeal at Basingstoke, and the charity CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood).
CLIC was the beneficiary of the mayoral charity appeal of Councillor Rita Burgess during 2002-03. Gazette Newspapers backed this through its various publications and was delighted that its publicity helped raise the profile of the appeal, which pulled in more than £42,000.
The exhibition - which is sponsored by Basingstoke-based Wella - has been on display at Milestones museum since mid-September.
Gazette Newspapers editor Mark Jones said: "The exhibition we have put together spans various areas of our coverage and I believe the pictures are shining examples of the excellent work produced by our photographic team.
"Gazette Newspapers is particularly grateful to Wella for sponsoring the exhibition and for the support we have received from staff at the Hampshire Museums Service."
A special leaflet has been produced to mark the exhibition and this can be collected at the event. The leaflet contains details of how to order reprints, which are available to purchase at £10 for A3 size, or £5 for a smaller 12ins by 8ins photo.
The exhibition can be viewed at The Willis Museum from 10am to 5pm between Monday and Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday. Admission is free.
