BASINGSTOKE Concert Club present their latest Family Funday concert on Sunday, November 9, at Central Studio.
Presented by Silk and Steel, it will be a musical voyage of discovery through the universe.
In a series of musical contrasts, the event will timewarp its way around the galaxy, comparing these with the different characteristics of the planets.
With a strong emphasis on audience participation, as well as being educational, the concert is sure to be great fun. Watch out for Captain John and his rickety old space ship! Silk and Steel were formed in 1994 to explore the unique sound world of the flute, euphonium and piano. The group has gone from strength-to-strength with performances around Britain in both music clubs and children's concert settings.
John Powell (pictured), the euphonium player, is one of the most versatile in the world today, with a successful career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer and band specialist.
He and Stuart Death have performed as a duo for eight years and have developed a high level of musical understanding and maturity in their concerts.
Completing the trio is Laura Jellicoe, presently co-principal flute with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert, sponsored by Gazette Newspapers, begins at 3pm. Doors open half-an-hour before for free coffee and ice cream, and there's also the chance to win money for yourself and your school with a £100 cash prize.
To ensure your ticket for this "intergalactic space experience", call the box office on 01256 465566. You can also purchase tickets at the door on the afternoon of the concert.
