INVESTIGATIONS are today under way after a man suffered internal injuries when he was trapped in a trailer at a Southampton company.
The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was working in an articulated trailer at STS Eurolink in Andes Road, Nursling, when the accident happened just after 11.30am yesterday.
One of the bars fell in on the roof of the trailer, trapping the man, and firefighters were called to free him.
Two engines and an aerial lifting platform from Redbridge fire station attended the accident, along with the special equipment unit from St Mary's fire station and ambulance crews.
A doctor was also called and the man was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
STS Eurolink refused to say how the accident had happened, how badly the man had been hurt or whether there would be an internal inquiry.
A spokesman for Hampshire police said: "We attended the scene this morning and also organised for Health and Safety to attend. We shall not be investigating the matter ourselves as Health and Safety carry out their own investigations, but we will be on hand to help them should they ask for our assistance with anything."
A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said it was not yet known whether the accident would be investigated further.
But he added: "We are the enforcing authority and we are now making preliminary inquiries."
