Newly-promoted City of Southampton Swimming Club did themselves proud in the first round of the Speedo Premier League at Victoria Pool, Portsmouth.
The highlight of the evening was Jamie Cole's eight-second personal best in the under-13 breaststroke with a time of 1.33.70.
The first-round draw could have not been more difficult, however the City Team excelled on the night and came away with numerous personal best times.
James McTavish also achieved a pb (25.33) in the 50m freestyle of the men's open medley team, consisting of James, John Audis, Chris Jones, Russell Champion (1.53.67). They chalked up City's first win of the night.
Another star on the night was nine-year-old Lucy Pope who had never swum in a Gala before, but helped the under-11 girls' relay team gain valuable points.
City gained first places in the men's 100m breaststroke with Chris Jones (1.09.62) and the men's 100m backstroke with John Audis (1.01.46). Audis went on to gain second place in the men's open individual medley (1.01.54).
Charlotte Slater achieved three personal best times in the under-13 100m butterfly (1.09.91), under-13 100m freestyle (1.04.06) and was under the 30-second mark in the 50m freestyle (29.66).
In the girls' under-13 medley the relay team comprising Joanna Jeffcoat, Hayley Couchman Charlotte Slater and Emily Weber had tough opposition but managed to gain second place (2.15.87). Joanna Jeffcoat then went on to gain a pb in the under-13 Backstroke (1.11.38).
Emma Macey swam superbly to win the under-15 100m butterfly in a personal best time of 1.06.72. Emma was joined by Joanna Jeffcoat, Angela Fu and Sarah Brown to gain second place in the under-15 medley relay (2.14.69). Angela Fu also swam well in the under-15 100m breaststroke to take second place (1.19.12)
In the boys' under-15 Luke Horswell gained a pb in the 100m backstroke (1.07.53), with Lewis Callen (1.25.28) and Spencer Haysom (38.06) both swimming superbly in the under-13 100m and under-11 50m butterfly respectively.
In the under-11 girls Abigail Slater gained two personal best times in the 50m breaststroke (55.55) and the 50m butterfly (53.16).
Other good swims and personal bests were produced by Natalie Robinson, Amy Wheeler, Makada Murphy, Mhairi-Claire Stewart, Lucy Pope, Nicholas Edwards, Nicholas Jeneway, Samuel Sharpe, James Long, Alex Cameron, George Jubb and David Bywater.
Final team places: Portsmouth 1 (248 points), Wycombe 2 (193 pts), Guildford City 3 (183 pts), Rushmoor Royals 4 (167 pts), Dover 5 (137 pts) and City of Southampton 6 (119).
