Hamble ASSC had 12 first-team players missing for their clash at Combined Counties League outfit Cove - but still squeezed through to round three of the Hampshire Senior Cup with a 4-2 extra-time verdict.
Larry Clay's men had to do it the hard way, a Pete Williams own goal helping to make it 2-0 at the interval after they had dictated early play.
"We were 2-0 down but could easily have been 4-0 up, I don't know how we managed to miss so many chances," sighed the Planemakers' manager.
Craig Rickman pulled one back with a penalty following a handball and Tony Jones marked his Hamble debut with a 30-yard equaliser.
Farnham-based substitute Adrian Moger clambered off the bench to put ASSC ahead for the first time before Rickman sewed things up ten minutes from the end of extra-time.
"We certainly made hard work of it," added Clay. "What we need now is a nice draw in the next round to generate some dosh for the club."
