HUNDREDS of Hampshire youngsters have a host of new handcrafted wooden friends to play on.
A wide-mouthed frog, squirrel pole, snail slide and talking flower are among equipment which has appeared in woodland at Itchen Valley Country Park, West End.
Local sculptor Andy Frost created the additions to the play trail circuit, which has offered enjoyment to many families over the half-term holiday.
Project manager Dave Payne said: "It is perfect for younger children, particularly those who can't walk very far, and will provide more opportunities for play at peak times."
Louise Bloom, executive councillor for the environment, officially opened the trail.
She said: "I'm delighted to see these fantastic additions to the play facilities at Itchen Valley Country Park"
