The first of three meetings between Christchurch and Fareham Town at Hurn Bridge over the next 18 days ended with the visitors drawing first blood as they claimed a 1-0 victory in the Hampshire Senior Cup.
The only goal of the game came midway through the second half, Richie Way dribbling half the length of the pitch and crossing for Peter Wood who crashed home a volley from the edge of the penalty area.
Christchurch get a quick chance for revenge on Saturday when they meet same place, same time for a SWL match and Fareham head back to Dorset on November 18 for a Russell-Cotes Cup second round clash.
