THREE MPs met on a motorway bridge in a fresh bid to put a stop to the noise pollution that is blighting hundreds of their constituents' lives.
Mark Oaten, Sandra Gidley and David Chidgey converged on the Otterbourne Bridge over the M3 - the point where all three of their constituencies meet - to highlight the need to bin the din.
The trio have individually tried to get the government to sit up and listen but their calls to resurface the M3 have fallen on deaf ears.
Now they are joining forces in the hope of making a bigger impact and will start by tabling questions or holding a short debate in parliament.
Mr Oaten, Winchester MP, said: "All three MPs are inundated with complaints about noise from the motorway and we are re-launching our attempts to persuade the government to take action and resurface the M3."
The Daily Echo first launched a "Bin the Din" campaign in November 2001 after residents complained they had had enough.
Calls for a quieter new road surface have so far been unsuccessful.
Mrs Gidley, Romsey MP, said: "We have all been working individually before so it will be interesting to see if a more joined up approach will work.
"People living near the motorway are desperate to get it done. They can't even sit out in their gardens in the summer.
"It's very difficult to get anything accelerated but we will be having another go because we think it's worth it."
Mrs Gidley said the MPs will be writing jointly to the relevant minister on the matter.
They will also all try to secure a short debate or use questions to highlight the issue in parliament.
