POPPY Appeal: Yes, the Poppy Appeal season is in full flow.
Our local legion has a reputation for being one of the best and biggest collectors for a village of our size. But this year does not seem to have the potential to keep up this long-standing reputation.
CHINESE take-away: Most people thought this was dead in the water. But, no, it has risen again by way of an appeal against the decision to allow it to be opened as a take-away facility.
Many residents have been told of the appeal, but if you want to comment, send a note to the planning department at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The planning reference number is 53739.
NIGHT flying: This will be on the increase until November 11, as RAF Odiham have a new intake of newly-qualified Chinook helicopter pilots.
Their night flying training will take place between 5.30pm and 11.30pm, Monday to Thursday.
Please be aware this could go on until 1am, depending on the weather.
If you have a query, contact the RAF base on 702134, extension 749.
