A KIND-hearted Overton woman decided to forgo presents on her 70th birthday this year in lieu of donations to St Michael's Hospice.
Mary Reid chose to support the hospice as it cared for her daughter Maria before she died in 1999, aged 30.
Mrs Reid celebrated her 70th birthday on September 13, and invited 200 friends and family members to join her at The Overton Memorial Institute, in London Road, Overton.
Guests were asked to donate money to the hospice, instead of buying her a present. Around £1,300 was raised.
Mrs Reid said: "It was a fun night and a nice way to put something back. Even people that didn't come to the party sent money."
