FA Cup heroes Salisbury City are planning to make a weekend of it following news that their first-round tie at Sheffield Wednesday has been moved back a day to Sunday, November 9 (2pm).

Police have requested the change of date to avoid a clash with Sheffield United, who entertain Burnley at Bramall Lane on the Saturday.

That suits Whites boss Nick Holmes just fine. His old club Southampton are away to Bolton on Saturday week (November 8) and Whites now plan travel up on the Friday night, watch Gordon Strachan's men in action the following day and then prepare for the big showdown at Hillsborough.

"In reality, an occasion like this may never happen again, so we're going to make sure we enjoy it," said Holmes.

"There are thousands of clubs out there right now wishing they were Salisbury.

"I've always liked the idea of playing on a Sunday.

"I know there may be a few traditionalists who won't come up because they think football should be played on a Saturday, but what about all those Saturday League footballers who wouldn't have had the chance to go otherwise?

"The city's buzzing and there's talk of at least a thousand going up.

"Another big plus for us is that we were meant to be playing at Fisher on the Monday, but that's off now, so we don't have to rush back.

"The highs and lows after a big match like this one can run pretty deep, so I'm pleased we'll have some extra time to get back to normal."

Sadly, Whites have missed out on a big television jackpot of £50,000 for a live game.

The chosen ties are Thurrock v Luton Town (Friday, November 7, 7.45pm on Sky), Yeovil Town v Wrexham (Saturday, Novem-ber 8, 5.35pm on Sky) and Accrington Stanley v Hud-dersfield Town (Sunday, November 9, 1pm on BBC1).

Ticket prices for the Sheffield Wednesday tie are £10 for adults and £5 concessions.

Bookings can be made from 9am to 5pm on weekdays at Salisbury's Raymond McEn-hill Stadium with payments to be made in full.

There will also be additional 'after hours' booking times, but fans should phone the club first on (017) 2232 6454.
