The Flaming Lips, Bournemouth International Centre
WHEN a band has been together for 20 years you could expect them to sound a little stale - but nothing could be further from the truth for The Flaming Lips, who proved why they are one of the most popular live acts in the country.
Their career started in 1983, but the Lips have only just found mainstream fame, albeit through their sci-fi masterpieces The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots - their tenth and eleventh studio albums.
Their set in Bournemouth included a smattering of songs from their entire career, but featured a heavy presence from their latest offering Yoshimi - including their brilliantly received new anthem Do you Realize?
To top it all the stage show was as mad as ever - all glitter, men in costumes and general lunacy from irrepressible front man Wayne Coyne.
In music you're either hot or you're not and right now The Flaming Lips are, well, Flaming.
