A Winchester schoolboy has hit all the right notes to be named Choir Boy of the Year in a national competition.
Harry Sever, 11, pictured, beat off competition from hundreds of other youngsters to sing his way to success in the prestigious BBC Radio 2 competition broadcast last night.
Staff and fellow pupils at Winchester College are full of praise for Harry who is head quirister at the school. Christopher Tolley, director of chapel music, said: "I am delighted that Harry has been so successful. He is an outstanding singer with a very special musical personality."
The final was held at All Souls Church in London and was hosted by composer Howard Goodall who is a former choirboy himself.
Harry, from Hedgerley in Buckinghamshire, won a trophy, £500 for himself and £1,000 for his choir.
The schoolboy wowed the judges with My Song Is Love Unknown and Agnus Dei from Mozart's Coronation Mass.
Harry also plays the viola, piano and organ and is a keen sportsman with a special passion for rugby. Auditions for quiristerships at Winchester College and choristerships at Winchester Cathedral will be held at the Pilgrims' School on Saturday, November 15.
