Gosport thrashed below-strength Hamble 6-0 with goals from Neil Scammell (2), Graham Lindsay (2), Mark Tyron and Fraser Quirke. The defeat left Hamble boss Larry Clay wishing he'd called the game off.

Blackfield & Langley will probably escape a fine for calling their match off the previous week due to informing the league they had been hit by a sickness bug.

Clay said: "I wish we'd done that.

"We've been hit hard by injuries and sickness, I had people playing against Gosport who shouldn't have played really.

"One player, Peter Williams, had been to hospital every day last week having poison drained from a leg. We're really thin on the ground and, against a quality side like Gosport, you need all your big guns firing.

"It was good experience for our younger lads to see the standard they need to reach, but in a way it wasn't fair on them."

Hamble's injury problems continued when defender Trevor Cox, who was playing in midfield, suffered an ankle injury that could sideline him for two months.

Lloyd Mitchell and Ross Bottomley netted as Fareham triumphed 2-1 at Blackfield.
