CALLING all heroes! Today the Daily Echo gives you the chance to nominate who you think deserves recognition for being an unsung hero of the south.
Forms will be printed in the Daily Echo starting today, giving you the chance to put forward who you think deserves a Local Hero Gong.
Organised by radio station Power FM the awards have undergone a revamp this year to include more of a musical element alongside the community awards.
The categories have also undergone an overhaul with youngsters and businesses being given the opportunity to shine alongside top music acts.
Now in its ninth year, bosses at Power FM said the popular competition was in need of a shake-up.
A spokesman said: "As the leading commercial radio station in this market Power FM's Local Heroes is a fantastic way for us to give something back to our local community.
"This year in addition to recognising the unsung local heroes in our area we will be recognising heroes from "Today's best music" - as this is what Power FM stands for."
There will be no shortage of star quality at the awards presentation ceremony on November 28, as along with the winners of the gongs there will be a host of performances by chart artists along with special appearances from the world of pop and showbusiness.
Personalities who will be among the audience include Fred Dinenage, George Baker - better known as Inspector Wexford, former newsreader Alistair Stewart and Mark Hill of Artful Dodger fame.
There will also be a charity auction held in aid of the Help A Local Child charity at the event being staged this year at Southampton Football Club's ground, St Mary's Stadium.
So to make sure you are a part of it and to get the hero in your life recognised, simply fill in the form printed on this page and return it to Power FM in time for the deadline on November 7.
