OVER the last four years, a redundant farm worker's cottage has been restored and refurbished by owners who are now selling with a price guide of £298,000 through estate agents Dreweatt Neate.

Yew Tree Cottage is in West End in the village of Sherborne St John and is thought to have been built in about 1800. It was part of the Vyne Estate until being bought by another local farm in 1945.

The semi-detached home has been extended twice in its lifetime and is now a three-bedroomed property with landscaped gardens that back on to Hampshire farmland.

The front door of Yew Tree Cottage opens into a dining hall where there are exposed beams, an open fireplace and wood laminate flooring. Stairs in the dining hall rise to the first-floor bedrooms and the recently-fitted Victorian-style family bathroom, which includes a shower cubicle. The master bedroom has its own shower room.

More laminate flooring is laid in the sitting room, which also features a fireplace, with an exposed brick chimney breast, and patio doors to the garden terrace.

The study also has laminate flooring.

The kitchen has been fitted with a bespoke range of solid pine units, with granite work surfaces. Units are fitted around a butler's sink and range cooker and other appliances include a fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

Slate flooring in the kitchen runs through to the utility room, where there are more pine storage units.

Dreweatt Neate's price guide includes a summer house in the garden and an attached garage, with eaves storage.

The agents describe the cottage as retaining "enormous character".
