Sir.-After reading the story in last Friday's Gazette regarding the lady who was complaining about her living condtions with her eight kids in a three-bedroomed house on the appropriate benefits, I would like to know why I should pay for a six-bedroomed house for her?
Why can't the dad(s) buy her a house?
I am currently eight months pregnant and working full-time, 60 miles from Basingstoke. I travel every day and am saving for a house.
I have looked into what benefits I may receive and the answer is nothing - no help with a house, council tax or working family tax credits.
So why should I struggle to go to work to pay for a six-bedroomed house for her and her eight children when I struggle to try to bring up my own family?
-J Taylor, Basingstoke.
