TOBY Sumner has received the all clear from a knee specialist to step up his rehabilitation programme.
Sumner visited the specialist last week and was told he can now get involved in contact training and games.
Sumner said: "It was a big boost and news I've been waiting a long time for.
"The specialist said the damaged knee was now 14 per cent stronger than the other, when it's normally around 10 per cent weaker.
"So I can put my boots on again properly and try to get back to full fitness and a win a first team place."
Manager Ernie Howe said: "After such a long time for Toby to miss playing, that news is great.
"It will be a challenge for him, but I know he won't be deterred in the slightest from getting in among bodies in the hustle and bustle of that midfield role."
