Peterborough Islanders 4, Basingstoke Buffalo 6
VICKY Robbins turned away over a shot a minute to help the Basingstoke Buffalo to a 6-4 win in Peterborough on Saturday night.
In total, Robbins faced 70 shots and was involved in the first piece of action as she was checked into the boards by Grant Hendry with such force that her helmet flew off and she was left stunned.
Much to the disgust of the visiting fans, Hendry received just a two-minute penalty for this, when he should have been dismissed.
The Gowrings and Safeway-backed side made the most of the man advantage as Mark Jordan scored the first of a hat-trick from Drew Campbell and Andy Morgan.
However, by the period break, Peterborough had gone in front from a Ross Mackintosh brace.
Just 11 seconds after the break the Buffalo were level as Jordan converted a Page pass.
The home side netted twice through the Hendry brothers of Fraser and Grant before Jordan completed his hat-trick, assisted by Greg Wyatt, with 46 seconds left in the period.
The final session belonged to the visitors as Campbell helped himself to a hat-trick in the space of nine minutes while Buffalo most valuable player Robbins turned away all 32 shots she faced in the period.
At the final whistle, Stuart Coleman jumped off the Peterborough bench and jumped Morgan. This earned the Islander a game misconduct penalty to swell their penalty count to 70 minutes.
The Buffalo are next in action at home to tough London outfit Streatham Redskins on November 2 (6.30pm).
