FOLLOWING her sell-out performance at the Theatre Royal, Winchester, last year, jazz singer Stacey Kent is back by popular demand.
An American by birth, Stacey came to Europe to study French, Italian and German for a Masters degree in comparative literature.
Following a chance meeting in Oxford with saxophonist Jim Tomlinson - who later became her husband - she decided to pursue her love of jazz.
After a year studying at the Guildhall School of Music, Stacey and Jim set about honing their skills on the London jazz scene.
A demo tape sent simultaneously to Polygram, Candid Records and broadcaster Humphrey Littleton secured her a role in Ian McKellen's Richard III, a recording contract and national airplay and then the release of Stacey's first album, Close Your Eyes.
Stacey Kent is at the Theatre Royal, Winchester, on Tuesday, October 28 at 8pm.
Tickets cost £11 and £13. To book or for further information, contact the box office on 01962 840440.
