TWO men were being quizzed by police today after a woman was punched in the face and robbed of a large amount of cash as she left a Southampton pizza restaurant.
The 32-year-old was targeted as she walked out of Pizza Hut near the Bargate Centre in broad daylight just after 11am yesterday.
Police said she was attacked by two men, who grabbed hold of her and punched her in the face, causing bruising.
Detectives believe a third man was also involved in the robbery at Hanover Buildings, in which a "substantial" amount of cash was stolen. The robbers then left the scene in a blue Vauxhall Cavalier, which was recovered a short time later in St James Street.
Police said all three men were described as white and aged in their late teens or early 20s.
DC Justin Norris, of Shirley CID, said: "It happened at a busy time of the day when there would have been several witnesses around the Hanover Buildings area, and we would urge them come forward."
Today police confirmed two men had been arrested in connection with the incident and were in custody, helping with inquiries.
Anyone who witnessed the robbery or the car being abandoned in St James Street should ring Shirley CID on 0845 045 4545, or the free and anonymous Southern Crimestoppers line free on 0800 555 111.
