Solent Stars' women came through their weekend double-header with maximum points in the bag.
Having seen off Southend Swifts 82-44 in Essex on Saturday, they returned to their home territory of Hampshire to beat Cardiff Clippers 70-37.
After trailing early on against the Swifts, fittingly it was former Southend player Vikki Willmore who brought the scores level playing against her home club for the first time.
The rest of the half belonged to Carrie Jones and Kathryn Hield, who scored 13 points between them, underlining their massive improvement since stepping up from the local Solent League.
Solent led 47-23 at half-time, but it needed a big three-pointer and neat jump shot from Willmore to head off a Southend fightback early in the second half.
In the final quarter there was a great solo performance from Christie Rourke, who ran through the Swifts' tiring transition defence with ease to score 12 points.
Although Stars ultimately ran out easy winners against Cardiff on Sunday, the final scoreline did not reflect how tight the battle was in the first half.
Stars' coach Michael Ball looked to his bench to create some energy and the busy Rourke continued where she had left off at Southend. Backed by baskets from Claire Wiseman and Eszter Ball, Stars led 29-23 at half-time.
The second half was a different story with Wiseman conducting a masterclass in defence to help stretch the lead to 54-27 at the end of the third quarter.
This Saturday (October 25) Stars play Leicester at home in the National Trophy (Fleming Park, 6pm). Captain Sarah Cooper remains a doubt due to an injured hand.
Solent scorers: (versus Cardiff Clippers) Syngellakis 16, Willmore 16, Powell 9, Ball 7, Wiseman 7, Rourke 5, Jones 4, Chase 4, Walton 2; (versus Southend Swifts) Rourke 15, Willmore 14, Syngellakis 13, Wiseman 12, Hield 11, Jones 8, Brownsell 4, Ball 3, Powell 2.
