BROCKENHURST are so bowled over with former Hampshire cricketer Iain Brunnschweiler that they are trying to get the wicket-keeper turned goalkeeper on contract at Grigg Lane.
The 23-year-old has let in only three goals in five appearances for the fast-improving New Forest club and player-manager Graham Kemp already rates him one of the best keepers in the Sydenhams Wessex League.
He said: "Iain's kicking is not the best, but that will come with time. The rest of his game's outstanding. His handling, shot stopping and the way he comes for crosses is superb. You'd struggle to find a better keeper in the Wessex League.
"I've heard a whisper that Winchester City are interested in him, but we're in negotiations to put Iain on contract."
The Badgers have a tough task on their hands tonight away to Conference giants Aldershot Town in the Hampshire Senior Cup second round (7.45).
It's a tall order for any side, but Kemp is determined to give Terry Brown's cup holders a run for their money. He said: "We'll go up there, try and be professional and give a good account of ourselves. Ninety-nine times out of 100 they'd beat us, but there's always a chance it could be our day."
Newport IoW can do no wrong at home this season, but their away form still leaves a lot to be desired heading into tonight's Dr Martens Eastern Division derby at Fleet (7.45).
Manager Steve Tate is so concerned about Port's travel sickness that he struggled to get excited about Saturday's 3-1 home win over Erith and said: "What would really cheer me up is if we could learn how to win away from home - starting tonight."
Defender Pete Tagg is still missing with a broken foot bone.
Salisbury City's league form has taken a turn for the better since their memorable FA Cup win at Havant & Waterlooville.
Nick Holmes's side will be gunning for their third straight Eastern Division success at home to Burnham tonight (7.45).
Although Josh Thomas and Adam Wallace are suspension-free, defender Thomas is ruled out by a stomach strain. Leigh Phillips is still sin-binned, Steve Strong is sidelined with knee trouble and ex-Saints defender Andy Cook is doubtful after taking a knock on the head at Dartford.
