THE YOUNG tenpin bowlers of the Basingstoke YBC Club were recently rewarded for an exciting 2002-03 season.

Dave Martin of joint club sponsors Jointing Technologies made the presentations.

The league season, contested over 33 matches, was decided in the last round with the Jammy Strikers team of Ashley Iacona, Craig Saunders and Matthew Davis champions with 632 points.

Close behind on 617 points were Who Knows? - Matthew Blackman, Iain Robinson and Darren Wyatt - and third were the X-ceptional line-up of Nigel Clark, Andy King and Chris White on 605 points.

Boy of the year was Andy Wallace, girl of the year Rachel Ellis and peewee of the year Anthony Plato.

The highest male game scratch score went to Nigel Clark (278) with a tie for second between Craig Saunders and Matthew Blackman (265). Top female was Sarah Bond, with 227, followed by Roxanne Turner (216) and Lucy Marsh (213).

The highest male game handicap winners were Ashley Butler (283), Russell Smith (281) and Paul Newsum (273) and the top female trio were Natalie Armitt (253), Natalie Iacona (250) and Anne-Marie Turner (244).

The highest male series scratch over three games went to Nigel Clark (678), followed by Matthew Blackman (667) and Andy Wallace and Ashley Iacona (606).

The female series winner was Sarah Bond (578), beating Lucy Marsh (545) and Roxanne Turner (529).

Following the presentations, the draw for this season's teams was made and 11 teams will be competing.
