HOUSE cleansing does not mean getting out the dusters and vacuum cleaner for 27-year-old Stewart Keeys.
For him, it is about incense, water, salt, a quartz crystal, a rose quartz, a crystal pendulum and his mental powers.
Basingstoke-born Stewart, who lives in Hatch Warren, is a psychic medium. He gives spiritual counselling and guidance and also cleanses people's homes of spirits and echoes.
Over the last year he has been called to use his special powers in more than 30 homes, including properties in Bramley, Popley, Brighton Hill and Chineham.
Even modern homes can have the wrong echoes. Stewart said it might be the land on which they have been built or even a bad atmosphere caused by previous occupants who have gone through trauma, such as divorce.
He explained: "Some houses are built on sites that have got very negative ground. It can be a brand-new, sparkling house but you don't know what has happened in the past.
"Sometimes it's hard to sell a house, not because of the dcor but because of the negativity that could have been caused by rows and broken marriages."
Stewart's dream is to be discovered and do his own television show, cleansing properties of their unwelcome vibes.
He said that only this summer, he cleansed a row of terraced cottages in Basingstoke of a Victorian lady who walked through them.
Stewart added: "She was dressed elegantly in a cream dress and cotton gloves. I saw her but she's gone now. She didn't want to go and it took me about 30 minutes to do my work."
He became aware of his psychic powers when he was about six years old and found he was seeing things that no-one else could see. He says his childhood home in Popley was haunted by a little boy and an old gentleman.
Although he has a job in customer services, his goal is to build his psychic company, Pure Connections, into a full-time business.
House cleansing is only part of his talents. He can put people in touch with their dead relatives and his powers have also been sought to give guidance on business ideas.
