LAST Monday's parish council meeting heard the leader of the borough council and portfolio holder John Shaw suggest that money allocated to provide a sports barn for Chineham could be diverted and used for the replenishment of the Basingstoke Sports Centre swimming pool instead.
Parish councillors voted to strongly object to the proposal. It was felt that the existing under-provision of public sport and leisure facilities in the parish should not be given the opportunity to be held back even further.
The parish council also decided to move ahead with the provision of a modest shelter near the recently installed wheeled sport facility at Tollhouse Meadow.
A full copy of minutes can be obtained from the parish clerk Mrs Karen Ross on 474500 or via the parish website at www.chineham.gov.uk
THE mobile library will be in Chineham again on Thursday . The bus will be parked at Chineham Village Hall between 4pm and 4.20pm.
