ONCE again the Daily Echo is pledging its support in the search to find the unsung heroes of the south.
Launched by the Power FM breakfast crew this morning and backed by Meridian presenter Fred Dinenage the call has once again gone out to find the Local Heroes of 2003.
Now in its ninth year the competition strives to find people who have gone out of their way for others.
Be it a brave act, selfless charity work or just being a good mate, we want to hear the stories of the people who you think should be nominated.
Last year's winner of the Daily Echo-backed awards for bravest act went to David Timms of West Wellow.
Three years ago David came to the rescue of two women after their car plunged 40ft from a bridge.
Despite recovering from a spinal injury himself David, 52, managed to pull one woman from the wreckage and keep the other casualty conscious until the emergency services arrived.
Daily Echo editor Ian Murray said: "Last year's winner David was really deserving of the award and we want to hear more stories like that this year. We are delighted to once again be supporting this event to find the unsung heroes of the south."
To find out how to name your local hero see the Daily Echo next week for a nomination form.
