SOUTHAMPTON'S world powerboat champion Steve Curtis made it two wins out of two in the race for the 2003 Championship.
Curtis, bidding for his sixth world crown, and teammate Bjorn Gjelsyen claimed victory in Travemunde, Germany, in their Lamborghini-powered Spirit of Norway.
The Anglo-Norwegian pairing led the race from the start to make it two wins in a row and claim their 15th Grand Prix win overall.
They had previously won the opening race of the 2003 event off Lisbon.
They completed the 17-lap, 95 nautical miles course in 1hr 00.10sec at an average speed of 108.28mph.
"It was important to get a good start, and we did, but we were pushed very hard at the beginning by Victory 7 and Highlander," said Curtis.
"We were first into the corner and had the boat trimmed perfectly and from then on we managed to open up a good lead.
"The conditions were very tricky. It was very rough and we had one or two moments but we were confident we could win from the start.
Victory 7 were second and Highlander third.
Curtis and Gjelsyen are already 13 points ahead of their nearest rivals in the race for the Superfund Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
SOUTHAMPTON duo Gavin Brown and Peter Phillipson claimed victory in the first V24 Offshire Championship Powerboat series race.
Brown (driver) and Phillipson (navigator) teamed up in Shelly Jory's boat Winging It Offshore to triumph off Exmouth in Devon.
In addition, Jory drove her V8 into second place in the RYA National V24 Championship.
The second round of the V24 Championship takes place off Poole on August 16-17.
The following week they compete off Cowes.
