SCHOOLS in the area have been holding their annual harvest festival celebrations.
At Zouch Primary School, each class performed a piece of work in a special harvest assembly, which included a French poem as part of the school's modern foreign languages work.
Throughout the week, pupils have been focusing on the need to share and how working together can achieve more.
They all took in items of tinned or dried food which will now be donated to Salisbury-based charity the Trussell Trust, which runs an emergency service for local families who find themselves in desperate situations.
Pupils at Vigo Infant School spent a week learning about food, tasting different products and learning about its values before enjoying a special harvest assembly.
The youngsters had brought in donations of harvest produce and following the festival, held a sale of the goods and raised £44, which was donated to international children's charity Global Care.
Norman Gate School in Andover enjoyed their harvest festival on Friday, led by the Rev Jill Bentall.
Children took a wonderful array of harvest gifts to school and enjoyed songs ranging from the Mango Walk to Oats and Beans.
Headteacher Chris Gayler was pleased to welcome many of the parents, who enjoyed the festival of thanks and praise.
