A FIRST responder scheme to aid the ambulance service may be set up in the Chutes - if enough volunteers come forward.
The idea follows concerns over response times with confusion over Wiltshire Ambulance Service responding to calls from an 01264 Andover telephone code - the majority of which are in Hampshire.
The neighbourhood or community first responder scheme is a nationwide initiative which allows groups of volunteers to be trained in the use of life saving techniques and equipment and to respond to emergency calls as well as ambulances.
If organisers find enough people in the Chutes interested a presentation will be given on the practicalities of running the scheme. To register as a possible volunteer call Tim Harker on 01264 730898.
