Southampton Saints' 100 per cent record was finally dented last night by south coast rivals Portsmouth.
Sue Lopez's table-toppers went into FA Women's Premier League Southern Division action at Winchester boasting a perfect nine wins out of nine record.
But a last-minute goal from Pompey's Charley Wilson ensured Saints' winning streak fell short of double figures as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Denplan City Ground.
Saints took the lead in a tight, well-contested game after 68 minutes when experienced defender Lynn Armstrong laid the ball off for Scottish international Holly Anderson to drive home.
Only last month Portsmouth were hammered 5-1 by the Saints in their home fixture at Fareham, but Vanessa Raynbird's side proved a far tougher proposition this time round.
The equaliser came on 90 minutes when Saints' England squad keeper Toni Anne-Wayne ill-advisedly came out to challenge Wilson in a one-on-one and was outfoxed by the Pompey striker.
Lopez admitted: "Portsmouth upped their game, but we were below par. It's not an excuse, but there's been a flu virus going round and when we needed to be high-energy, we weren't.
"Portsmouth played at a high tempo and they looked sharper than us tonight.
"I'm afraid the fuel wasn't in the tank for us. We've had ten hard games and we could have done without playing in midweek - but that's football!"
Saints now have a much-needed free weekend before entertaining second-placed Bristol City on Sunday week (October 26) at Winchester.
