NEWPORT IoW and Basingstoke Town stumbled to defeat in last night's third qualifying round replays.
Having failed to capitalise on home advantage, Newport came away disappointing 2-0 losers from Harrow Borough while Basingstoke lost 1-0 in extra time at Bracknell.
"We went out with a whimper," admitted Island boss Steve Tate, whose young side conceded on the stroke of half-time and then again when they were chasing the game in the closing stages.
It means they miss out on a plum home tie against Conference high-fliers Hereford United on Saturday week.
Adam Crittenden's goal 22 minutes into extra-time marked the end of the FA Cup road for Ernie Howe's Basingstoke. Conquerors Bracknell entertain Barnet on Saturday week.
