Bashley overcame an escalating injury crisis to pull off their second 1-0 victory in four days at Burnham last night, courtesy of skipper Craig Davis.

Although Graeme Gee made a comeback on the bench after five weeks out with ankle ligament damage, the Foresters went into battle without Richard Gillespie, Mark Jones, Matt Lonnon and goalkeeper David Elm - plus long-term absentees Mark Lisk and Dave Wakefield.

For all their problems, Bashley defended remarkably well but survived midway through the second half when Burnham hit the top of the bar.

The Foresters' reward came in the 82nd minute when Ollie Cherrett's free-kick ricocheted around in the area and Davis's 12-yard shot went in off the post, making it six points out of six for new boss John Robson.

Robson's assistant Ricky Haysom said: "The lads battled really hard and produced a disciplined, gutsy performance against a Burnham side who had won 2-1 at King's Lynn on Saturday."

Salisbury City's new strike signing Matt Tubbs put the finishing touch to a 5-1 win at Fleet Town.

The Whites had originally targeted the 19-year-old former Bolton Wanderers trainee back in August, but he opted for the lure of Premier Division football with Dorchester Town.

Assistant manager Tom Killick said: "He is an exciting young squad player who will improve our squad immediately, although he is still learning his trade."

Having fallen behind to a Steve Black goal after just two minutes, Salisbury turned on the style with goals from Adam Wallace (3), Darren Crook and Matt Tubbs.
