TWO men have been charged with murder after a Southampton man was stabbed to death on a Berkshire industrial estate.

Martin McDonagh died in hospital after being stabbed in the chest during an incident involving two groups of men in Slough on Thursday evening.

Police said the 39-year-old was a member of a family of travellers based in the Southampton area.

A 21-year-old man was also stabbed in the incident on the Britannia Industrial Estate, but was released after hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Murder squad detectives later arrested three men near the scene on suspicion of murder.

Mohammed Ghulam Rasul, 41, and Shahab Uddin Ahmed, also 41, were later charged with Mr McDonagh's murder and appeared before Reading magistrates on Saturday.

The pair were remanded in custody to appear before Reading Crown Court on Thursday.

Magistrates made an order under section 11 of the Contempt of Court Act, forbidding publication of either defendant's home address.

A third man was released on bail after questioning, pending further police inquiries.

Earlier, detectives said none of those involved were believed to be from the Slough area.

The murder charges follow a disturbance on the ATS forecourt in Poyle Road, Slough, about 6.30pm on Thursday.

Police said Mr McDonagh had been taken to Wenham Park Hospital with stab wounds, where he later died.

A post-mortem carried out by a Home Office pathologist confirmed death had been caused by a stab wound to the chest.
