Lymington Town are proving to be a curse on Hampshire League Premier Division title chasers VT.

A week after beating Vospers 1-0 in the Hampshire Senior Cup, Town did it again on Saturday to wreck their 100 per cent league record.

Paul Sims got the all-important goal just ten minutes into the game at Southampton Road, then Town defended stubbornly as VT tried to hit back in the second half.

"We worked hard enough but we couldn't break them down," said manager Dave Diaper whose VT side had won their previous seven games in the Premier Division.

VT's best chance came in the last five minutes when the Lymington keeper spilled a free-kick from substitute Marc Diaper but Mike Spinney couldn't tuck the rebound away from close range.

It wasn't a good day for the Premier Division front-runners. Liss Athletic looked on course for another win when they led Brading Town 2-0 at half-time at Vicarage Lane.

But the one-time basement side battled back for a 2-2 draw thanks to James Booth and Josh Wetherick who scored with only his second touch after coming on as substitute. Brading have now won once and drawn twice in their last four games to move away from the bottom.

East Cowes Vics have got their title challenge back on track. They got five against Bishop's Waltham in midweek and followed up with a 6-1 win over Fawley, who scored after only 25 seconds at Whippingham.

Two penalties, tucked away by Mark Watson, had Vics in the lead by half-time then a spectacular volleyed own goal, followed by strikes from Wayne Newnham and John Beard (2), saw the Island side to a comfortable win.

Jason Lovell normally bangs them in for Ringwood Town, but the former Wimborne ace put one in at the wrong end as Bishop's Waltham fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Ringwood. Lovell got the last touch after Stuart Carpenter had flicked on a Paul Cartwright corner, then Gary Biddle scored from the spot to give Bishop's a share of the spoils.

Overton have had a problem scoring goals in Division 1 this season, but not on Saturday. After trailing 1-0 to Colden Common at half-time, they at last found their touch to win 5-2 with Leon Dalton (2), Rob Tyson, Steve Hope and Sean Searle giving the Common defence a second-half mauling.

Micheldever, who have only taken six points from six games after winning their first four, came back from a goal down against Hayling United to take a well earned point with a Mark Green penalty.

The big game in Division 2 between Hamble Club and Ordnance Survey ended in a 2-2 draw at the Shell Mex Ground.

Survey took the lead, Ollie Forbes and Richard Natt gave Hamble a brief lead, before Survey levelled before half-time.

High-riding Ludgershall were brought back to earth at Romsey where Simon Dea'th scored the decisive goal on the half-hour.
