ANOTHER joint operation to clean up Andover estates has been hailed a success by Andover police.
It was the turn of King Arthur's Way and Roman Way this time for Operation Clean Sweep involving the police, Test Valley Borough Council, Testway Housing, Neighbourhood Wardens and contract cleaning services.
The operation took place on Tuesday and started in King Arthur's Way at about 8am before moving on to Roman Way.
During the sweep a total of 51 vehicles with either expired or no road tax were noted and five abandoned vehicles were given either seven-day or 24-hour notices.
A total of 13 abandoned supermarket shopping trolleys were removed; nine incidents of rubbish were noted; and 18 incidents of damage, including graffiti were spotted.
One person-check was made, with no further action; six matters of intelligence were gathered; and two people were reported for driving document offences.
Community beat Sgt Dave Wright, who was in charge of the operation, said: "It was a successful operation following on from previous successful operations.
"It was very much justified by the results achieved."
The aim throughout is to reassure the public that the various agencies involved are doing something about these issues.
Sgt Wright promised that similar action will take place in the future on a random basis.
