LIQUID nightclub is joining forces with St Michael's Hospice to raise money during Bad Hair Day.

The club, in Festival Place, Basingstoke, will be hosting "The Biggest Bad Hair Day Birthday Party Ever" on Friday, October 24, aimed at encouraging people to go crazy with their hair and raise essential funds for the hospice.

The club will also be celebrating its first birthday. Mark Cameron, the nightclub's general manager, said: "I am very much looking forward to the night and to be contributing to St Michael's Hospice.

"We will try to get as many people to have bad hair as possible and if people come here on the night with bad hair they can jump the queue and get a free bottle of VK Flavour. It's great that we are doing something for the charity so we are only too pleased to help."

For those who want to join in the fun later on in the evening, the style team from FHC for Hair will be on hand to help you create a fabulously outrageous style. There will be prizes on offer for the best bad hairstyle of the evening.

Melanie Blackman, event manager, said: "It's a magnificent venue and I am really pleased to help them celebrate their first birthday in this way.

"The local community have supported St Michael's Hospice in so many ways and it's wonderful to have an event where the main ingredient is fun."

Bad Hair Day, supported by Gazette Newspapers and Liquid, is also aiming to involve schoolchildren, company employees and individuals who will get sponsored to wear their hair in a wacky and wonderful creation. Last year, the event raised £2,700.

All the money raised for St Michael's Hospice will help pay for nursing care, a £2,000-per-week community nursing service, family support, occupational therapy and physiotherapy for people who suffer from a terminal illness in north Hampshire.
