A VIKING raid on a Southampton school gave youngsters an insight into the lives of their Scandinavian ancestors.
Part-time Norseman Simon Lidwell invaded St John's Infant School in French Street to promote a family weekend dedicated to learning.
The occasion, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, is a national event aimed at giving families the chance to have fun while learning.
Various events will be taking place across Southampton, including a living history session at the Museum of Archaeology in Winkle Street.
